After graduating with a degree in communication, I worked as a reporter for The Athens Banner-Herald in Athens, Georgia and then as a director of public relations for an Atlanta-based chain of restaurants called Jake's. When I entered graduate school, my focus shifted to English education, and I earned a Master’s in Teaching degree with an emphasis on secondary English education and a Georgia teaching certificate. Shortly after, I accepted a position overseas and moved to South Korea to teach various English composition courses at Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul.
After three years at Sookmyung, I returned to Atlanta and began teaching at SPSU in the spring of 2011. Across my writing courses, I incorporate a heavy emphasis on multimodal composition, especially on visual and digital literacy. As the Writing Center Development Coordinator, I not only serve students as a writing consultant in the SPSU Writing Center during the spring and fall semesters, but I am also dedicated to developing effective writing support for students across departments and in physical and virtual spaces.
