After graduating with a degree in communication, I worked as a reporter for The Athens Banner-Herald in Athens, Georgia and then as a director of public relations for an Atlanta-based
chain of restaurants called Jake's. When I entered graduate school, my focus shifted
to English education, and I earned a Master’s in Teaching degree with an emphasis
on secondary English education and a Georgia teaching certificate before traveling
to South Korea. There I taught various English composition courses at Sookmyung Women’s
University in Seoul. After three years teaching overseas, I returned to Atlanta and
began teaching at SPSU in the spring of 2011. In addition to teaching prerequisite
writing courses offered by the ETCMA department, I also serve students as a writing
consultant in the SPSU Writing Center during the spring and fall semesters.
