I am a professor in the Mathematics Department at SPSU. My Ph. D. in mathematics is from the University of Virginia. My B.A., with a major in mathematics and minor in philosophy, is from Hunter College of the City University of New York. I started teaching as a graduate student in 1982 and, besides the University of Virginia and SPSU, have taught at Duke University, Indiana State University, Georgia Tech, and l'Université de Technologie Belfort-Montbélliard (UTBM) in France.
SPSU and UTBM now have a student exchange program. Follow this link to learn more about studying at UTBM. They deliver courses in English. Follow this link to see if they have courses that might fit your major. If you want to study at UTBM for a semester, plan to go in January for the spring term.
My mathematical interests are Lie theory, geometry, history, and the connections between mathematics and culture.
