With a professional background in advertising and comic-book publishing, I approach composition and literature classrooms with the attitude that creativity is not merely an academic exercise. I encourage students to identify opportunities for creativity not only in the arts, but in the diverse technological disciplines that attract most students to SPSU. I hold a Ph.D. from The Center of Writers at the University of Southern Mississippi, and I am actively engaged in researching and writing contemporary fiction and non-fiction with work included in such publications as Bitter Oleander, The 2012 Zahir Fiction Anthology, Pank, and Texas Review. I also work as an assistant editor and proofreader on The Southern Poetry Anthology series, published by The Texas Review Press. I enjoy the written word, and I strive to help my students achieve some level of appreciation for it as well.
