Terry Carter
Dr. Terry Carter is a Professor of English. He completed his doctoral work in English
with an emphasis in Composition and Rhetoric at The University of South Carolina (USC)
in 2002; his dissertation is entitled Textual and Personal Representations of African Americans in Composition and Rhetoric. At Southern Polytechnic State University, he teaches first-year composition, literature
surveys, ethics, and writer’s workshop courses; he also teaches online courses through
The University of Georgia’s collaborative programs. He is currently a member of CCCC’s
Language Policy Committee, and his research investigates representations of African
Americans in the field of composition and rhetoric and how online composition courses
impact student’s writing and identity in virtual classrooms.
